What good drainage protects
A roof collects water across its whole surface and sends it to one edge. The gutter takes it from there. Without one, that water lands beside the foundation, splashes mud up the siding and runs behind the fascia board.
Give it a few seasons. You get a damp crawl space, peeling paint and a soft, rotting eave. None of it looks urgent until it is expensive.
A gutter also needs a slight slope toward the downspout. Too flat and it holds water. Too steep and water overshoots at the corners. Getting the pitch right is part of the install, and it is the first thing that goes wrong on a rushed job.

Seamless gutters
A gutter is only as good as where it empties. Downspouts need the right size for the roof area they serve and a discharge point that sends water away from the foundation, not onto it. We place them where they drain well and where they are least likely to be knocked or crushed.
Downspouts
Seamless means the run is formed on site in one piece, rather than joined from short sections. That matters because joints are where gutters leak. Fewer joints, fewer leaks. The only seams left are at the corners and the downspout outlets, and those are sealed.

Gutter guards
Guards keep leaves and debris out of the gutter while water still gets in.
What they do
They reduce how often you clean the gutters. Less debris means fewer clogs and fewer overflows.
What they do not do
They do not eliminate cleaning. Fine debris, pollen and shingle grit still get through, so plan on an occasional check.
Who they are worth it for
Mostly houses under trees, and houses where getting up a ladder is not realistic.
